Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists support individuals of all ages in overcoming challenges with daily activities: self-care, academics, work, leisure, and social engagement.

Using a strengths-based, client-and family-centered approach, OT addresses physical, psychological, social, and environmental factors to enhance participation, boost self-esteem, and foster a sense of accomplishment. 

Bengisu provides individualized support for a variety of functional and performance needs, including:

  • Sensory Processing– Managing sensitivities or seeking behaviour related to sound, touch, movement, and more.
  • Body awareness, Strength, Balance, and Coordination– Improving physical control and motor confidence.
  • Social interaction Skills– Building meaningful relationships and navigating social situations.
  • Primitive Reflex Integration– Supporting developmental movement patterns that may still be present.
  • Daily Living Skills– Gaining independence in eating, dressing, toileting, hygiene, and household tasks.  
  • Emotional Regulation: Developing impulse control, flexible thinking, and coping strategies.
  • Executive Functioning-Enhancing planning, organization, task initiation, time management, and prioritizing.
  • Cognitive skills-Supporting attention, concentration, and memory. 
  • Relaxation & Stress Reduction– Learning techniques to manage anxiety, increase mindfulness, and promote calm. 
  • Assistive Devices and Home Modifications– Identifying tools and adaptations that make daily activities safer, easier, and more comfortable.
